Together with resident artists Tiana Khasi and Cecilia Sordi Campos, we invite you to join us for an evening of music to celebrate the culmination of our residency project, Inciting Joy.

We will begin the evening with a performance featuring Tiana, accompanied by her live band and our community singing group, assembled as part of the project. The performance will feature new music and arrangements from Tiana's repertoire.

After the performance, tea and dessert will be served, and guests are invited to linger, relax, and mingle in conversation. Or join the making table to assemble an adornment to be added to the community blanket that Tiana has been making throughout her residency.

If you're unable to attend the performance, please join us in the gallery space at correspondences for our final poetry reading circle on May 23, where you can also explore Cecilia's final exhibit. Tiana Khasi is a Meanjin (Brisbane)-born, Naarm (Melbourne)-based future soul artist. A trained vocalist whose voice has been described ‘as venomous as it is honey-sweet’, Tiana’s music pays homage to her heritage while exploring a forward-thinking blend of soul, jazz and pop. Her debut EP, Meghalaya – titled for Meghalaya, India, the land of the Khasi tribe whose name Tiana proudly bears – arrived to critical acclaim in 2019. In 2020, Khasi released a follow-up EP, Meghalaya – The Remixes, a project that invited friends and respected collaborators to explore playful interpretations of her songs. Featuring contributions from Sampology, Melbourne’s Horatio Luna, So.Crates, Best Foot Forward, choicevaughan and Benny Salvador from Aotearoa as well as London-based label mate Street Rat, the remixes arrived dance-floor ready, breathing new energy into the music and representing community and collaboration at its core. 2024 will see the highly anticipated return of Khasi's music, brimming with the promise of pop innovation and soulful storytelling. With her unique blend of venomous yet honey-sweet vocals, she is poised to once again captivate global audiences and redefine the boundaries of contemporary sound emerging from Australia.
