Warmly correspondences Studio  EVENTS LIST  Ali McCann / Campus 2022 From 8 September until 26 November 2022, resident artist Ali McCann will present her three month research project on-site Campus: A study of educational, domestic, and deep dark space (In perpetual flux), 2022. Comprising new photographic and video works, found images and objects, the project continues Ali’s longstanding inquiry into the constructed nature of photography and the possibilities of creating alternate visual and psychological realities. This first instalment is about research and ideas - a continuation of Ali's examination of the central theme of nostalgia. As her residency continues, she will create new works that extend her inquiries and expand the mode of her artistic field to encompass moving image, sound, sculpture, and performance. The project will build to its culmination in a special exhibit and event to be presented in November, what Ali describes as: A symbolic constellation of apophenia, or what the German psychiatrist Klaus Conrad describes as an “unmotivated seeing of connections (accompanied by) a specific feeling of abnormal meaningfulness. It is a vital part of what we do. Our retail experience focuses on books by Australia-based writers, selected craft/textiles, art prints and jewellery. You can also purchase lovely glassware, beautiful Japanese tea or a bottle of one of our in-house sakes to enjoy at home. Check out the shop via the button below or pop in.  SHOP  Our hospitality service operates from Tuesday to Saturday, morning until evening, for coffee, tea and sweet treats. On Thursday and Friday evenings, our space becomes your local sake bar or coffee/tea house, if you prefer, focusing on five to ten people seated at a time.
