What a joy it’s been during the last few days welcoming guests into the space to explore the final exhibit for Inciting Joy. Cecilia Sordi Campos presents three new prints from her Alegria 2024 series in the window. In the gallery centre, A pangeia do não-permanecer onde o despregar de Odús do céu e o extrapolar de sonhos acontecem na alvorada / A pangaea of non-permanence where the release of fates from the sky and the transcending of reveries happen at first light 2025 floats. We invite you to walk around and enter the pangeia as you think about joy. Pause. Inhale/exhale. Gently touch. Notice how these bodily gestures animate your intuitions about the work and the deep matter of joy. Tiana Khasi’s new series of textile works that draw inspiration from the colours, sounds, textures, stories and tastes of her Motherlands in Samoa and India will join the exhibit in the final week. While continuing to facilitate community singing on-site, she works with makers in our community on her crocheted blanket, which will be showcased at our performance on 30 May, featuring Tiana, accompanied by her live band and our community singing group. During these, the final weeks of Inciting Joy, we invite you to commune with us. Explore the exhibit over a cup of tea, sing or make with us, and, most importantly, join us for celebrations with both artists on 23 May (also featuring guest speaker poet, writer, musician and documentary audio maker Jaye Kranz) here at correspondences and 30 May at Balam Balam Place. To book and find more details, please press the button below to visit our Event registration platform. A final word. Congratulations must go to our artists, Cecilia Sordi Campos and Tiana Khasi, for ‘joyning’ this special project and bringing their artistry, dedication, care for community and warmth.
Warmly
