Thank you for joining us for Part 2 of Inciting Joy this past month. Whether you explored Cecilia’s exhibit, sang with Tiana and our community singers, read some poetry, embroidered, or enjoyed a cup of tea with us, your presence was deeply felt and appreciated. This Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, please join us for our poetry reading/listening circle or community-making before we close to install the third and final part of Inciting Joy, which opens on Saturday, May 10.
This final month promises to be a special one.
By popular demand, we've added an extra community singing session with Tiana, with bookings now open for Thursday, May 15.
On Friday, May 23, we gather for our final poetry reading circle and celebrate Cecilia and Tiana’s final gallery exhibit. We will have some food and a special guest speaker with us to mark this special occasion.
On Friday, May 30, our community singers will accompany Tiana and her live band in a performance at beautiful Balam Balam Place, featuring new music and arrangements from Tiana's repertoire. We'd love for you to come celebrate, dance, and eat with us.
To join us for one, or we hope, all of these special occasions, please RSVP via the Event Bookings button below.
In the exhibition space, Cecilia’s centrally suspended installation, A pangeia do não-permanecer onde o despregar de Odús do céu e o extrapolar de sonhos acontecem na alvorada (A pangaea of non-permanence where the release of fates from the sky and the transcending of reveries happen at first light) 2025, will grow. And a new selection of works from her 2024 Alegria series will greet you at our window.
A new series of beautifully designed everyday objects by Tiana will also be featured in the exhibit, drawing inspiration from the colours, sounds, textures, stories and tastes of her Motherlands in Samoa and Meghalaya. She also continues to work on her community blanket, which will be showcased at the 30 May performance.
In closing, we thank you for supporting our work - whether that's joining a free event, buying an artwork, an event ticket, a book, or a cup of tea, recommending us to a friend, sharing our news on social media or by word of mouth, or generously volunteering your time. In these uncertain times, these gestures and contributions sustain and enrich our organisation’s ability to continue, and we warmly thank you.
Warmly
